Community Guidelines
Last updated: 21 October 2025
Akanaba exists to boost researcher visibility and help people discover, share, and understand research. These Guidelines are short, practical rules for using Akanaba. They apply to Visitors, Registered Users, Members, Institutions, and Partner Institutions (as defined in our Terms of Service).
In short: Be respectful. Share research‑relevant content you have rights to share. Profiles are public by default. No faces in images. Illegal or infringing content isn’t allowed.
1) Be respectful & acknowledge diversity
Keep interactions professional and inclusive. Do not harass, insult, or demean others. Avoid stereotypes and hateful, discriminatory, or violent content. Debate ideas—not people.
2) What you can share on Akanaba
Content that increases understanding of research, e.g.:
- Your profile, expertise, affiliations, and selected works.
- Research outputs: papers, preprints, books, posts, news items, videos, images (no faces), methods, project updates, announcements.
- Links to external resources: project sites, repositories, datasets, code and publisher pages.
- Personal comments, descriptions, and other context accompanying what you share.
We may feature public items on public‑facing Akanaba pages and official channels (e.g., LinkedIn) to promote visibility.
3) Accuracy, integrity & attribution
- Represent your identity, affiliations, and contributions truthfully.
- Don’t share fabricated or manipulated data, imagery, or results. You’re responsible for the accuracy and quality of what you share; while we don’t pre‑review content, we may act on reports.
- Use brief quotes (if any) and link to the original source when you share or comment on others’ work.
4) Intellectual property
- Only post content you have rights to share. Use short excerpts and link out for third‑party content.
- Publication pages on Akanaba typically show partial metadata/abstracts and link/redirect to the source.
5) Images & AI content
- No faces (applies to all uploads, including AI‑generated): Don’t upload images with identifiable faces, especially not as cover images.
- AI‑generated by Akanaba: When we generate cover images, we mark them as AI‑generated.
- User‑uploaded Images: We cannot reliably detect whether uploaded images are AI‑generated; You are responsible for the rights, accuracy and quality of the images you upload.
6) Visibility & sharing
- Profiles are public by default on Akanaba. You can claim & edit your profile or delete it. For visibility, featuring, and spotlight opt‑out details, see our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
7) Spam, security & misuse
No spam, astroturfing, or metric‑gaming. Don’t phish, distribute malware, or scrape/auto‑collect Akanaba content. Impersonation and misrepresentation are not allowed.
8) Reporting problems
- For illegal or infringing content, follow our Copyright & Notice Policy (DMCA + DSA) or email policy@akanaba.org.
- For profile corrections, impersonation, or other issues, email support@akanaba.org.
9) Enforcement & appeals
We may warn, limit features, remove content or profiles, or suspend/terminate accounts for violations. We’ll try to notify you with reasons and an appeal path unless prohibited by law or risk. For DMCA removals, you may submit a counter‑notice per the Notice Policy.
10) Changes
We may update these Guidelines. Material changes will be posted in the Service. These Guidelines work with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
