This video presents one of the many case studies developed within the course Advanced Manufacturing of Plastics and Composites (Prof. Gianluca Cicala, Prof. Claudio Tosto) in the MSc Mechanical Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture (DICAr), University of Catania.
Student Roberto Di Maria designed a heat exchanger optimized for additive manufacturing, integrating materials selection (ANSYS Granta EduPack), topology optimization (nTopology), techno-economic analysis and thermofluid dynamic simulation using ANSYS Fluent.
The thermofluid analysis builds on the competencies acquired in the course Energy and Environmental Systems (Prof. Rosario Lanzafame, Prof. Stefano Mauro). Roberto also obtained an ANSYS Fluent certification through the activities led by Prof. Mauro.
